What is Biotechnology?

Biotechnological products are a beautiful, symbiotic combination of nature, science and people-centered innovation.
Biotechnology is the use of living organisms to perform particular tasks or solve problems. Biotechnology cleaning products use microbes and enzymes to tackle dirt, dissolve grease and eliminate substances that cause unpleasant odors.

Biotechnological processes are known to be smart, clean, and sustainable. Unlike chemicals, the microorganisms in these processes create reactions and produce substances without requiring a full plant production. Manufacturing technological solutions with bio-active organisms requires considerable technological skills, an entirely new set of quality standards, and expertise to develop these unique processes. At InnuScience, our leading scientists have spent decades on R&D to create our proprietary bioactive ingredients. We design, stabilise, and properly formulate them to ensure they deliver consistent results.

Biotechnology Cleaning products

Biotechnology cleaning products use microbes and enzymes to eat dirt, dissolve grease and eliminate substances that cause foul odours. Instead of relying on chemicals, we work with nature to keep the spaces where we live and work clean and healthy. Think of the microbes in InnuScience products as your tiny, hard-working cleaning crew, doing the work for you.

At InnuScience, we have spent decades searching for unique bacterial cultures and enzyme extracts to create our proprietary bioactive ingredients. We produce these ingredients through fermentation, stabilize them and properly formulate them so that they do the job of cleaning, consistently. Our bioactives also include  other raw materials produced through the fermentation process, such as lactic acid. Our products are formulated by leading scientists in our lab to work in the real world.

Innovation 2018

Technological Excellence
& Innovation

InnuScience has been a key stakeholder in driving the collaboration between academia and the professional industry to advance biotechnology and bring about groundbreaking sustainable solutions. As part of the NSERC Recognition Program, the Synergy Award for Innovation 2018 was awarded to InnuScience Canada and Collège de Shawinigan for a research project they conducted through a research and development partnership that will contribute to bringing significant technological advancements in the field of bio-cleaners.

The awards ceremony was chaired by Her Excellency the Right Honorable Julie Payette, Governor General and Commander-in-Chief of Canada. For the occasion, the recipients also had the privilege of exchanging with the Right Honorable Justin Trudeau, Prime Minister of Canada.

What are Bacteria, Enzymes and Chemicals?

Bacteria are living cells which have the capabilities of consuming waste of different types and actually producing enzymes. Better said, bacteria are the factories that produce enzymes. When the right bacteria are present in the right conditions, they produce enzymes much more economically than people can manufacture them.

Enzymes are complex active substances produced by microorganisms. They speed up dirt and waste degradation by breaking it down into smaller and easy to biodegrade residues. Enzymes are proteins extremely active, even at very low concentration.
Chemicals are substances that physically react with dirt and waste without transforming them. They can be combined with bio-active ingredients like bacteria and enzymes as long as they are safe and have very toxicity level. InnuScience only use green and sustainable chemicals.
Chemicals are NOT alive. Chemicals include soaps, harsh acids and bases, solvents, and enzymes. Chemicals do not reproduce themselves. Chemicals can be used to mimic the bacteria or enzymes but they are either environmentally harmful, not as ecient, or both.

Bacteria
bacteria
Bacteria consume (biodegrade) waste materials. When they consume waste, they convert it into waste safe by-products – carbon dioxide and water. When the waste materials are very complex (such as grease or pond sludge), they produce enzymes to break down the complex waste into simple compounds that the Bacteria can consume.

Chemical

Green chemical ingredients can be added to a bio-active formulation as long it is compatible with it and as long it brings significant performance benefits. Properly selected chemicals will create emulsions and help mobilize dirt and waste to make it more rapidly available to enzymes and bacterial culture’s degradation.
En
Enzymes

Enzymes are produced in situ by bacteria, but they can also be added to commercial formulations as additive and in larger quantities in order to speed up the breaking down and biodegradation process of waste and dirt.

Which System is Best for the Environment?

By combining specialised bacterial cultures with active enzymatic extracts and green chemicals, InnuScience can develop products that outperform any chemical products. Using biological active ingredients also allows InnuScience to use extremely low amount of chemicals in its formulations. InnuScience goal is to provide the most effective solution while using the lowest possible amount of chemical products. This provides effective and sustainable solutions.

Which System is Best for the Environment?

Innu-Science Bacteria are 100% natural, safe and non pathogenic. Innu-Science Bacteria are not genetically engineered or altered in any way. Since bacteria both degrade complex waste and consume the by-products, less pollution is discharged to the environment. Bacteria also consume phosphate, ammonia and nitrates. This improves water quality in lakes, ponds and the groundwater. Bacteria are the environmentally superior solution, thus Nature's own Cleaners.
